Text: Jeremiah 1:5.
Thank You Father!
Father, thank You!
My Lord, thank You Father!
At one point or the other, most of us wondered who we are and what our individual lives are. As a result of this curiosity, a lot of times, people find themselves in a state of confusion; where everything about their curiosity does not seem to yield any satisfying result, instead, things get blurrier and more difficult to get a grip of.
Can I give you a good news today if you are in such a situation? God can enlighten your eyes to help you discover who you are, and He is ready to do so.
Come with me as we glean wisdom from the word of God, so that every form of confusion as regards our identities can be illuminated.
“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.”
New International Version.
God came to Jeremiah to sound the voice of ordination that was upon his life to him. I imagine Jeremiah confused about what he was supposed to live for and give his life wholly to, just like a lot of people are today as regards who they are meant to be. So, on a particular day, the voice of God came for him and shone light upon the confusion he had. However, to Jeremiah, the amazing thing in that situation was the fact that God told him he was supposed to be a prophet to nations. How would that be possible, seeing that he was only a young man? His current circumstance and situation did not look like what God showed to him, consequently, he doubted what God said, the same way most of us doubted what God showed us about our lives.
However, his complaints meant little or nothing to God because as far as God was concerned, he was supposed to be a national prophet, and He was ready to enable and empower him irrespective of his current realities.
The solution to every confusion met in a bid to uncovering self-identity is found majorly in God. You must understand that a lot of identity-crises that we have all around us are problems that stemmed from the fact that people sought solutions from wrong places or things. In a bid to discovering who they really are, a lot of people have engaged in so many things that still did not give them the answers they actually need, they only wandered in wonder upon the terrain of self-discovery without any tangible result.
God is the One Who can give you an accurate revelation of who you are because He is Your Creator. Your parents, siblings, pastors, teachers, mentors, spiritual fathers cannot give you the revelation of who you are, it is God who can give it to you. Consequently, if you seek answers concerning your identity from wrong places or persons, I guarantee that, most likely, you would get the wrong answers, and most times, you would even end up in frustration and regrets.
Have I said you should not ask people to help you with the quest of your self-discovery? No. What I am saying in essence is that, God is the One Who has the whole of the file that talks about your life, so it is better to trust in Him and seek answers from Him than rely on men. Although, God sometimes reveals certain things to us through other men, this is fine, but it is better if we could relate with God directly and get answers from Him by ourselves, then whatever anyone sees for us concerning our lives would just be an addition. Do not trust in men for the discovery of who you are, if you do, a lot of times, you would end up in more confusion and frustration.
Even God prefers we relate with Him intimately for ourselves, so that He would personally instruct us in the right path.
As God’s children, it is a taboo for us to rely on men to hear from God for us, it is an abomination of the highest order.
If you are ready to really discover who you are, then look up to God for a timely discovery of yourself.
Your eyes are flooded with light! Amen!
Prayer point: my Father and Creator, I look up to You today for a discovery of who I am, I have wandered so much in futility over the years, in the fullness of Your mercy Lord, shine Your light upon every darkness of my life! Amen!
